Sizing and Pricing

The standard sizes offered are listed below, however I am happy to make a custom size portrait if you have a specific size in mind that falls between the smallest and largest sizes listed below. The smallest size is set at 9.5" x 12" listed below due to the level of detail that these portraits entail.
In order to secure your slot, a non-refundable 50% deposit is required. You will not be added to the commission calendar until the down payment is received. Prices listed below are pre-tax.

Reference Photos

The following shows which types of photos are optimal to receive the most accurate representation in your commission. It is important to know that the more clear, bright, and central your photo is to your pet's face, the more accurate it will be! This is because it is difficult to add details when there are none seen in a reference photo. Additional photos for coloring references are accepted! We can decide together which photos are the best to use as your reference photo.
In cases where your beloved has passed, please let me know and we can work together with any photos you have.

 Grade A

The best type of photo to use as a reference for your piece!

These photos are:

  • Clear and bright
  • Not overly edited or filtered
  • Give a great view of the pet's face
  • Eyes are open

Grade B

These photos can work if many are provided together, but each photo is missing some element(s) of the pet:

  • Ears cropped out
  • Only shows one side of the face accurately
  • Taken from a bad angle

Grade C

These photos are not easy to work with and make it difficult to produce a high quality portrait:

  • Uneven lighting
  • Blurry
  • Dark lighting where you cannot see eye colors (eyes reflect light, it is important to see what minor colors are in your pet's eyes!)
  • Taken from far away
  • Heavily filtered
  • Missing multiple features of the face

Grade D-F

Although these photos are so adorable that they deserve an A in my heart, these types of photos won't produce the outcome we want!

  • Eyes closed
  • Face blocked with objects
  • Face not seen at all

(That was really just a chance to show off my sweet little Lucy girl!)

Pickup and Shipping

Because I am local to the New Orleans area, I offer pickup of your portrait free of charge! If you are local, this is the preferred method of delivery. If you are not local to the New Orleans area, please let me know and we can arrange shipping. All portraits, whether picking up or shipped, come mounted on a foam structure protected by glassine paper.

Care and Display

Please be careful with your new art work! The Clairefontaine pastelmat paper that your artwork is created on is the highest quality of paper offered for this art medium. This means that the soft pastel, of which your portrait is created with, sticks to the paper beautifully without needing to be "fixed" with a fixative spray, which can ruin the piece or turn the colors. However, your portrait can be smudged if not handled carefully. After receiving your portrait, I recommend displaying your artwork in a matted glass frame. It is very important that the frame is matted so that the soft pastel does not actually touch the glass, which can smudge the pastel. This is the best way to secure your portrait for display while protecting it's integrity.

Please head over to the "Place Your Order" page to get started!

Every order comes with the following items:

  • Your original piece of artwork!
  • A certificate of authenticity
  • A care and display guide
  • A business card (to tell your friends and family!)
  • Appropriate packaging, which varies if you are picking up or having your piece shipped
